Irish Dairy Board

The Irish Dairy Board (Irish Aboard Bainne ) in Dublin is the marketing organization for the Irish dairy industry.

History

The IDB was established in 1961 in order to promote milk products abroad on behalf of its partners, the Irish dairy farmers and dairies. In the meantime, go exports to over 70 countries, and the IDB is the largest exporter of the Irish food industry.

As an essential marketing tool, the IDB has created the Kerrygold brand, are sold internationally under the Irish dairy products of premium quality. Leading the way was the Kerrygold butter.

For the distribution of its products, the IDB has established their own subsidiaries selling in addition to butter partly cheese, meat dishes, fish and delicatessen:

The annual turnover of the IDB Group in 2006 amounted to over 2 billion euro.

IDB Germany

With Ireland's accession to the European Community in 1973, the IDB tested the market opportunities of Irish butter abroad and developed specifically for the German market located somewhere in the premium segment product in gold foil packaging. The launch was supported from the beginning of TV advertising. First, the product was distributed in Germany via the " Rhenish Association dairies " (VRM) GmbH & Co. KG in Krefeld, " IDB Germany GmbH" which was later renamed. In 2006 started the construction of a new administrative building with warehouse and production units in Neukirchen ( Kerrygold road 1), which forms the headquarters from 2007.

Brands

IDB IDB Germany sells only products. There are now next to the "Original Irish butter " another offered under the brand Kerrygold butter variants, such as herb butter, salted sweet cream butter, half-fat butter and products such as cheese. In Neukirchen " Kerrygold " Range also be formed for the Großverbraucher-/Convenience-Bereich frozen butters under the brand " Kerrygold Catering" in addition to different varieties of packed ( loose in bag to save packaging costs) and sold. Indicators

Annual sales of the IDB Germany GmbH in 2006 amounted to around 140 million euros. About 32,000 tons of butter are sold every year. With over 16 % of sales and 12% volume fraction of the butter brand Kerrygold butter is the market leader among the brands offered in Germany. IDB Germany in 2006 employed approximately 100 employees.
