The Irkutsk State Technical University (Russian: Иркутский государственный технический университет, ИрГТУ ) short ISTU or STU Irkutsk - is a technical state university in the Russian city of Irkutsk with a total of 28,000 students and 1,100 academic staff. Current President of the University is Prof. Dr. Nikolai Alexandrovich Buglow.
The Irkutsk State Technical University was founded in 1930 as Siberian Mining Institute and then consisted of the three faculties of mining, geology and metallurgy. The University is now one of the major technical universities in Eastern Siberia.
