Geographical Location

Irlbach lies in the Donau -Wald, in Gäuboden and on the edge of the Danube.

Community structure

The municipality Irlbach has three officially named districts:

  • Entau
  • Irlbach
  • Sophienhof

There are the districts Irlbach and Amselfing.

History

For the first time Irlbach is Breviarius Urolfi, a deed of gift of the Duke Odilo to the monastery Niederaltaich, from the year 741 mentioned. The Church of Irlbach belonged since 1148 until the abolition in 1803 to the monastery Niederaltaich. The place belonged to the Barons of Leoprechting, was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark whose seat Irlbach represented. Castle Irlbach was acquired in 1811 by François Gabriel de Bray and was the seat of caste domination of the Bray family. Created in 1818 the current municipality. Mayor Peter Bauer ( SPD / Independent voters ). He was elected in 2008 as the successor of Charles Xavier (CDU ).

The description of the coat of arms is: In silver and red diagonally left split plate head, in the right Obereck an eight-pointed blue star, and red sign foot, covered with a silver wave beams in a silver -lying green alder branch with three leaves.

Economy, agriculture and forestry
