Irm Hermann

Irmgard " Irm " Hermann ( born October 4, 1942 in Munich) is a German film, television and theater actress.

Life

The daughter of Karl Hermann and his wife Maria née Huber graduated after attending the primary school teaching as a publishing executive. She worked as a secretary at the ADAC, when she accidentally met at a drama competition the Young Academy Munich Rainer Werner Fassbinder 1966.

Fassbinder put them in the same year in his short film The Stadtstreicher one. Irm Hermann's relationship with Cooper was not only a professional nature, she belonged to the inner circle to Fassbinder. With him and, inter alia, Hanna Schygulla, she founded the later antiteater in which they took numerous roles until 1969. Then she participated until 1975 in more than 20 Fassbinder productions, including Katzelmacher and Fear Eats the Soul. It was, mostly in supporting roles, Fassbinder's usual cast of grumpy philistine interior. This type she played in her only starring role in a Fassbinder film as Irmgard Epp in The Merchant of Four Seasons.

In 1975, she emancipated herself from the relationship with Cooper and moved from Munich to Berlin. There she played for directors such as Percy Adlon, Werner Herzog and Hans W. Geißendörfer.
