Iron Butterfly

Iron Butterfly (English for "Iron Butterfly" ) is an American rock band that was founded in 1966 in San Diego and in 1968 gained with their album In-A- Gadda -Da - Vida and the eponymous title track world fame.

History

The debut album was released in 1968 and Heavy remained nearly a full year on the charts. Shortly after the founding members DeLoach, Weis and Penrod left the band. Penrod and Weis founded the band Rhinoceros.

One of the classics of rock music originated by chance on May 27, 1968 New York recording studio Ultrasonic sound. Sound engineer Don Casale was the sound check run along the band as the group wanted to practice In-A- Gadda -Da - Vida. The drunken music producer George Morton was indeed intended as a producer, but he was no longer mentioned by Atlantic Records later in the liner notes of the LP.
