Iron Maiden (Album)

Occupation

Iron Maiden (English for " iron maiden " ) is the debut album by the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden. The album was released in the UK on April 14, 1980 via EMI.

Formation

In December 1979, they were signed by EMI Iron Maiden. This was preceded by the highly successful EP The Sound House Tapes, which the band released and self-distributed. Shortly before the recordings met Dennis Stratton and Clive Burr joined the band.

The album Iron Maiden is the only Maiden album, which was produced by Will Malone. During the recordings, however, Malone lost interest in the current project, so the band had to take into their own hands the rest of the production. The band - especially Steve Harris - criticized the quality of the production. However, many fans like the rough, almost reminiscent of punk sound. Iron Maiden is also the only Maiden album, on which Dennis Stratton is heard. He left the band shortly after the release and was replaced by Adrian Smith.

With Iron Maiden Prowler and two songs from the EP The Sound House Tapes are in re-recorded versions on the album.

On this album and the previous single Running Free is also seen for the first time the band mascot Eddie. The zombie is with a few exceptions on all releases from Iron Maiden and also appears regularly in stage shows of Maiden.
