Irondale is a city in Jefferson County in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is a suburb of Birmingham and has about 10,000 inhabitants.

Irondale is by the book and the film of the same Green Tomatoes (English Fried Green Tomatoes ) by Fannie Flagg become known. Fannie Flagg grew up in Irondale. Scene of the book and film was the well-known Irondale Cafe, the " The Whistle Stop Cafe " was called. Irondale is the seat of the internationally active Catholic radio and television station EWTN.
