Irshad-Pass

Irshad Pass, or also called Irshad Unwin Pass is a high mountain pass, with a summit elevation of 4977 m above sea level. The pass forms a connection to the Pakistani territory of Gilgit -Baltistan special ( the former Northern Areas ) to the Wakhan Corridor in Afghanistan. The pass allows the crossing of Chapursan valley to Hunza valley in Gojal in the Gilgit district.

This pass can not be driven and the crossing from one valley to another requires three days on horseback. The pass to cross annual 60 convoys of load carriers, mostly Kyrgyz. The Irshad Pass was mentioned by Philippe Valéry in his book à pied jusqu'en Chine.
