Irving Bacon

Irving Bacon ( born September 6, 1893 in Saint Joseph, Missouri, † February 5, 1965 in Hollywood, California ) was an American character actor.

Life and career

Between 1915 and 1965, Irving Bacon has appeared in more than 500 film and television shows. He began his career in silent films in mostly comedic roles, which were significantly older than himself. Among other things, Bacon worked with Mark Sennett. After the start of the sound era to Bacon's film appearances have intensified, often he was the average retail Städtler from the Midwest, such as a friendly postman, bored doctor or curious taxi driver. Among his film appearances in small to medium-sized supporting roles were classics such as Gone with the Wind, Here is John Doe, Shadow of a Doubt and A new star in the sky.
