Irving Taylor (ice hockey)

Irving C. Taylor (* August 13, 1919, † December 1991 in Ottawa, Ontario ) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1948 he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.

Career

Irving Taylor began his career as a hockey player with the Ottawa Junior Senators and Saint Malachy, for which he was active from 1936 to 1938. The season 1938/39 he spent at the Perth Blue ring. In the senior level, he played in the season 1940/41 for the Toronto RCAF. During the Second World War he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and reached the rank of Corporal. The season 1944/45 he spent at the Ottawa # 17 Equipment Depot, before he was on the ice for the Ottawa RCAF and the Arnprior Rams 1945. After a year's break from hockey in 1946, he returned to the RCAF Flyers back to Ottawa. With the team in 1948, he represented Canada at the Olympic Winter Games. He also came in the 1946/47 season in some games for the Renfrew Lions from the Upper Ottawa Valley Hockey League action.

Internationally

For Canada, Taylor participated in the Olympic Winter Games in 1948 in part in St. Moritz, where he won the gold medal with his team. As a player, a coach, he graduated in the tournament just a game.
