Isaac Bentham

Isaac Bentham ( born October 27, 1886 in Wigan, England, † May 15 1917 in Arras, France) was a British water polo player.

Together with Charles Sydney Smith, George Cornet, George Wilkinson, Charles Bugbee, Paul Radmilovic and Arthur Edwin Hill, he took part in the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 and won the gold medal. In Stockholm we won the game in the final round 8-0 against Austria and 6:3 against Sweden, the second were ultimately.

Bentham is only one of the two gold medalists from 1912, which won only one tournament. While the other, Arthur Edwin Hill, at the Olympic tournaments where the UK still won, was not considered, Bentham could not participate in any further tournament after 1912 more because he was killed in 1917 at the front in the First World War in France.
