Isaac Boakye 2008

Isaac Boakye (* November 26, 1981 in Kumasi ) is a Ghanaian football player.

Career

Association

He started his career Boakye at the Ghapoha Readers, an association of Tema in Ghana. Two years later he moved to Ashanti Gold SC. In the same year he completed a trial with Swedish club IFK Norrköping. He left Ashanti gold but not in the direction of Sweden but played a year in Turkey at MKE Ankaragucu in his youth, before he joined Asante Kotoko Kumasi. There he also completed his first professional games.

By 2003, the center forward went in his hometown for goals before brought him Arminia Bielefeld in the Bundesliga 2. There he came in his first season at 26 games in which he scored 14 goals, and was promoted to the first division. After that, he was often injured and came 2004/2005 only ten inserts and two goals.

In summer 2006, Boakye moved to VfL Wolfsburg. The release was 1.2 million euros; he was awarded a three -year contract in Wolfsburg.

For the second half of the season 2007/ 08 Boakye moved on loan to second division club FSV Mainz 05 1, where he played 13 times mostly as a substitute and scored a goal. The contract included an option to buy, which has not drawn; Boakye then returned to Wolfsburg.

He moved to the beginning of the 2008/09 season in the 2nd Bundesliga for 1.FC Nürnberg. In the first two league games he played over the full time and each scored a goal. Because of his often wayward manner, he remained despite six other gates controversial at the club. With his two goals in the first relegation match on 28 May 2009 in Cottbus, who won the club with a 3-0, he seemed a regular place came a big step closer.

The first half of the season 2009/10 was, however, not very pleasant for Boakye. From the beginning he was struggling with a groin problem and so the association with Maxim Choupo -Moting borrowed already on Matchday 5 another Centre Forward from. Only five times did the Ghanaians in the first round to use and just before the closure of the winter transfer window, the kicker still reported about a possible return to Bielefeld, but did not materialize. It was not until well into the second round in until he had found the connection. But Choupo -Moting and the other offensive players kept their trunk positions and so he came only to five shorter inserts as a substitute in the League and the Relegation leg. A goal of the season he did not succeed.

After Boakye in the first half of the season 2010/11 was only a reservist and came to only two brief appearances, he released 18 December 2010 his contract with 1.FC Nuremberg and moved to the Norwegian capital Oslo to Vålerenga IF in the Tippeligaen.

Boakye is without a club since December 2011.

National

Boakye played in the national team of Ghana. He had his first major appearance during the Africa Cup of 2002, when he by two goals in the last two minutes of the game the national team of Ghana with a 2-1 victory over Burkina Faso as a substitute secured a place in the quarter-finals. However Boakye was not taken at the African Cup of Nations 2006 and the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

On 28 February 2007, the then national coach Claude Le Roy explained that Boakye will no longer play for Ghana. Since September 2005, he had not played a single game more for the Black Stars.
