Isabel Allende (politician)

Isabel Allende ( Isabel Allende Bussi also, born January 18, 1945 in Santiago de Chile) is the daughter of Salvador Allende, former President of Chile. After the death of her father in the military coup of 1973, she fled with her mother, Hortensia Bussi and her two sisters first to Cuba and then to Mexico.

After 16 years in exile, she returned in 1989 towards the end of the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet back to Chile. It is Senator since 1993 deputy of the Socialist Party in the Chilean Parliament since 2009.

From 2003 to 2004 she was President of the Parliament. She was elected on 19 March 2003 with 58 to 57 votes for President. Since 2008 she is Vice -President of the Socialist Party of Chile.
