ISAF Sailing World Championships

ISAF Sailing World Championships (English ISAF Sailing World Championships, also briefly called ISAF Worlds ) are those of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF ) discharged international championships all Olympic boat classes in sailing. They take place every four years, always in the year preceding the next summer Olympic Games. The first ISAF World Championships were held in 2003 in the Spanish city of Cadiz.

The World Championships are also the main qualifier for the Olympic sailing events in the following year. 75 % of all quota places will be awarded at the races. In addition, the ISAF wanted to achieve through the introduction of joint World Championships for Olympic boat classes better marketing opportunities and increased media interest.

Regardless of these common world championships organized by the ISAF also for all boat classes ( dinghies, keelboats, multihulls and sailboards in the categories olympic, internationally recognized and classic) separate sailing world championships in different time intervals.
