Isatou Njie Saidy

Njie Saidy Isatou ( born March 5, 1952 in Kuntaya; Aisatu also N'Jie - Saidy ) is a West African politician and the current vice president of Gambia.

Njie Saidy was born in Kuntaya in the district Jokadu in the North Bank Region. After leaving school, she initially trained as a teacher. From September 1983 to December 1989, she served as Executive Director of the Office for Women's Affairs, the Gambia National Women 's Council and National Women's Bureau, works.

From July 1996 to 2001 she was Minister for Health and Family Welfare ( Secretary of State for Health and Social Affairs ) in the Cabinet under President Yahya Jammeh of Gambia. It leads also since 1996 the Ministry of Women's Affairs ( Secretary of State for Women's Affairs ).

Since 20 March 1997 she is Vice President of The Gambia, which they held the second- highest office of the State. She is the first female vice president of West Africa.

Njie Saidy is married and has four children.
