Isay

Isay ( Scottish Gaelic: Ìosaigh, Old Norse: ise- øy; German: " Ice Island " ) is an island in the north of the Inner Hebrides in Scotland. It is located north-west of Skye in the Bay Loch Dunvegan. The distance to the Coral Beach on Skye is about one kilometer. Northeast of Isay are the small islands Mingay and clett.

Isay 0.6 km ²; the highest point is 28 meters.

In the 19th century, lived about 90 people on Isay. As part of the Highland Clearances, the inhabitants were expelled to make way for sheep.

In the 1980s, Isay was the singer Donovan. Today the island is uninhabited. Isay, the Islands Ascrib and the Loch Dunvegan form a conservation area to protect the living there seals (Phoca vitulina) since 2005.
