ISC license

The ISC license or shortly ISCL is a license for open source software of the ISC. It is a modified version of the " 2 " clause BSD license, a BSD license, which contains only the first two paragraphs. The modification consists of the removal of those parts that are unnecessary by the revised version of the Berne Convention of 1971. In that the protection of the original work is also true for translation, which corresponds to the compilation of the source code. A distinction between source code and binary code is unnecessary.

The license was originally created for its own software developments of the Internet Systems Consortium, such as BIND, but is also used by other projects, especially OpenBSD, as the preferred license.

It consists exclusively of the copyright notice, permission for unrestricted use and disclaimer:

Copyright (c) year (four digits ), name of company or person Permission to use, copy, modify, and / or distribute this software for any purpose with or without fee is hereby granted without royalty provided did the above copyright notice and this permission notice Appear in all copies. THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED " AS IS " AND THE AUTHOR disclaims ALL WARRANTIES WITH REGARD TO THIS SOFTWARE INCLUDING ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS. Thus, the ISC license provides the most freedoms of the public domain for the copyrighted work. The license has been recognized by both the Open Source Initiative and the Free Software Foundation, and was changed after the first sentence to and / or, and compatible with the GPL.
