Ischa Meijer

Isha Meijer (actually Israël Chaim Meijer, born February 14, 1943 in Amsterdam, † February 14, 1995 ) was a Dutch journalist, writer and talk show host.

Life

Isha Meijer was kidnapped as an infant along with his Jewish parents, the historian Jaap Meijer and his wife Liesbeth Voet, in the concentration camp Bergen- Belsen. The family survived the concentration camp and returned after the war to Amsterdam, where the siblings Miriam and Job were born. When the children reached the age of majority, the parents broke off contact with them. Isha Meijer suffered a lifetime from a lack of relationship with his parents and was looking in to writing the recognition that had eluded him in his parents' house.

Meijer worked as a journalist for several major daily and weekly newspapers and was particularly known for his detailed and revealing interviews. In the newspaper Het Parool since 1991, he also had a daily column under the title De thickness Man ( The fat man ). In addition, Meijer moderated the radio program Een Uur Isha ( Isha one hour ), later Een Uur Dik Isha ( A thickness hour Isha ) and had his own show in the evening program of the television station RTL 5

At the age of 52 years Meijer died suddenly of a heart attack. In year of his death, he was posthumously awarded the award Zilveren Reissmicrofoon ( Silver Reiss microphone ) for his work as a radio presenter. The writer Connie Palmen, who had lived together from 1991 until his death at Meijer, 1998 published the book IM ( German: IM Isha Meijer - In margine, In Memoriam, 1999) about their time together. This was also known about the Netherlands also.
