ISDN Digital Subscriber Line

ISDN Digital Subscriber Line ( Abbr: IDSL ) is a procedure for a digital connection between the exchange and customers had existing, otherwise used for ISDN lines. The data rate of an ISDN basic access, so 144 kbit / s ( full duplex).

IDSL does not necessarily need copper pairs, but can be used over any imaginary actually for ISDN basic access lines, even over fiber optic lines that are implemented in the distribution of copper. This is therefore not a DSL proceedings in the strict sense, but a substitute for it.

In Germany IDSL is not used, although it just to the east of Germany are many connections, the sections run over fiber, so that 's where most genuine DSL methods can not be used.
