Isen Abbey

St. Zeno is a former Benedictine monastery and later collegiate in Isen in Bavaria in the diocese of Freising.

History

St. Zeno in Isen was founded by members of the Fagana, a local noble family, and Bishop Joseph of Freising in the 8th century. It was one of the oldest monasteries on altbayerischem ground. It was until the early 12th century Benedictine monastery, then collegiate. The abbey was dissolved in 1802 in the wake of secularization. The seven Kanonikatshöfe and the convent building passed into private ownership, with the exception of the parish and Kooperatorenhauses.

The former monastery church is now used as a parish church.
