Ishigaki Rin

Ishigaki Rin (Japanese石垣 りん; born February 21, 1920 in Tokyo, † 26 December 2004) was a well-known contemporary poet in Japan. She described with the means of a simple, clear language and everyday motifs, the woman as an individual in the family and society. Some of her works were included in Japanese textbooks.

Life

Ishigaki Rin was born in 1920 in Akasaka, a former district of Tokyo. After her graduation in 1934 she earned as a bank teller at the bank Kōgyō Nihon (日本 兴业 银行) their livelihood, where she worked until her retirement in 1970. She remained unmarried.

As a member of a literary circle in her bank, she began to write poetry; In 1959 a first collection. Her second volume, which appeared in 1968, was a Poetry Prize for the best poetry collection of the year in Japan excellent ( H氏 赏, H -shi shō )
