History

The community of Ishinomaki was established on April 1, 1889 during the introduction of the modern Japanese community structures and was a district town ( chō ) in Oshika County. On 1 April 1993, the appointment would come to the independent city ( shi). Today's church was established on 1 April 2005 from the union of the old church with the cities of Ishinomaki Monou, Kanan, Kahoku, Kitakami, Ogatsu, the district Monou and Oshika district Oshika. This led to the dissolution of the district Monou while the Oshika district consisted of only one municipality ( Onagawa ).
