Ishøj is a town with 19,247 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) on the Danish island of Zealand. The city is located in the same parish ( Ishøj Sogn ), which belonged to Harde Smørum Herred in the former Copenhagen office until 1970. With the dissolution of the hardware structure of the parish was included in the municipality Ishøj, this remained with the municipal reform of 1 January 2007 unchanged, but since part of the Capital Region.

Ishøj is located on the Køge Bay about 18 km south-west of Copenhagen. The city is the administrative center of the homonymous municipality and Ishøj a part of Hovedstadsområdet. In 2011, 10.6 percent in Ishøj with the highest unemployment rate in the country recorded (Denmark: 6.1%).

In Ishøj lies the Arken Art Museum opened in 1996.
