Isidore Mvouba

Isidore Mvouba, also M'Vouba (* 1954 in Kindamba ) was from January 2005 to September 2009 Prime Minister of the Republic of Congo.

Political career

Mvouba comes from Kindamba near the capital Brazzaville. In 1977, he became an employee of the railroad.

He joined the Parti Congolais his time Unity Party du Travail (PCT ) and is a member of the Politburo. Mvouba is considered a close confidant of longtime President Denis Sassou Nguesso, the campaign manager, he was in the presidential elections of 1992 and 2002. After deselection Sassou Nguesso, he declined the offer in 1993 of President Pascal Lissouba to become trade minister.

Since the return Sassou Nguesso to power in 1997 - Mvouba part in various functions of government. In addition, he was first secretary of the youth organization of the PCT, the Union de la jeunesse Socialiste congolaise ( UJSC ).

Mvouba was appointed by President Sassou Nguesso to the Prime Minister on 7 January 2005. The office was occupied for the first time since October 1997. The decision of the President provoked criticism because the Constitution does not provide for the office of Prime Minister.

On September 15, a new government was formed in which the office of prime minister was abolished. Mvouba was appointed instead to economic and transport minister.
