The Işık University is a private university located in Sile, Istanbul province.

History

The " Feyziye Mektepleri " foundation founded on December 14, 1885, a school with the name " Feyz -i Sıbyan Mektebi " in Thessaloniki. The Turkish nation's founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk visited this school. After Thessaloniki had become Greek, the school moved to İstanbul. In 1935, their 50th anniversary, the name with the consent of Atatürk " Işık Lisesi " was (which in Turkish " light school " means ) changed.

In 1996, the University of the foundation to the teaching. In September 2007, the first time foreign students came under the European Erasmus program at the Işık University.

Campus

The campus of Işık University is located since 2003 in Sile, about 50 kilometers north-east of Istanbul, on the Black Sea. On this campus there are 3 faculties, 2 institutes, research centers, 176 faculty members and approximately 1,800 students, of which approximately 330 fellows are ( 2007 figures ).

The tuition fees at Işık University amount to approximately $ 9,000 per year. For scholars, the fee is only half.
