Isla de la Plata

The Isla de la Plata ( German: Silver Island, according to an allegedly by Sir Francis Drake hid there Silberschatz ) is a 14 square kilometer island about 20 kilometers off the coast of the province of Manabí, Ecuador, and is part of the Machalilla National Park. They can be reached by boat from Puerto López.

On the island lives a variety of animal species. So there are different boobies as the blue-footed boobies, red-footed boobies and the Nazcatölpel. Another species is the mane seal. In the waters around the island to see dolphins as the Slim dolphin.

On a number of hiking trails are guided tours that are also offered to incoming cruise ships tourists.
