Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan

The Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan ( tadschik. Ҳизби Наҳзати Исломии Тоҷикистон; Russian Партия исламского возрождения Таджикистана ), also known as the Islamic Revival of Tajikistan Islamic Revival of Tajikistan, Islamic Party of Revival and Islamic Revival Party is an Islamist party in Tajikistan. It is the only legal Islamic party in Central Asia.

History

The organization was founded in 1990. In 1992, the party held a conference in Saratov, Russian Federation from, which was attended by many Islamists from the former Asian republics and the regions of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan.

As Tajikistan gained independence, the party was banned in 1993 and fought on the side of the United Tajik Opposition ( UTO ) and associations from the region Gharm against the regime (see History of Tajikistan ). In 1998 the party was legalized again after they had done a number of peace-keeping requirements episode. In 1999, she was the second strongest party in the country.

In the elections that took place between 27 February and 13 March 2005, the party won 8% and pulled 2 out of 63 seats in parliament.

Died in 2006 of long-time leader of the party, Said Abdullo Nuri, on the consequences of his cancer suffering, whereupon the organization tried to boycott the presidential elections.
