Islamic Revolutionary Court

The Islamic Revolutionary Court is a special court of the Islamic Republic of Iran against those who want to overthrow the Islamic government in Iran. It was established in 1979 after the Islamic revolution ( overthrow of the Shah of Persia ) was established. From February 1979 to June 1981 officiated Sadegh Khalkhali as chief judge of the Revolutionary Court.

The court is also pursuing a layman that do not support as employees of the government, the armed Islamic Revolution. The Islamic Revolutionary Court also keeps non-public state courts. In the past, however, still came through government-related indiscretion details to the public. The Islamic Revolutionary Court provides no jury. The decision and judgment is in the hands of a single judge.

Human rights violations

The Islamic Revolutionary Court has become known in the past, particularly in the 1980s, through the conviction and execution of thousands of supporters of a secular state, as well as Communists and supporters of the Volksmodschahedin. According to the allegations of electoral fraud disputed Iranian presidential elections of 2009, the 15 th Division of the Court sentenced under the chairmanship of Judge Abolqasem Salavati many opposition to long prison terms for alleged enmity to God and to death.
