Islamistan

Islam Istan (Persian, Urdu and Arabic اسلامستان ) Islam literally means land or land of Islam. The term is Persian - Arabic origin and it is the goal of an Islamic United State of Iran through Afghanistan and Pakistan to Central Asia; it is also used pejoratively in German in Islamophobic circles to indicate the region is backward.

Use

In 1949, the party president of the Muslim League in Pakistan declared in a speech that the country all Muslim countries would bring together under Islam Istan.

In Afghanistan in the early 1980s, anti-Soviet factions gathered to form a united front for the country. Some of the groups suggested that the state of Afghanistan should be renamed to Islam Istan.

Also, the Iranian Ayatollah Khomeini spoke of a united Shiite Islam Istan with Iran as the main center.
