Island hopping

Island hopping, sometimes called island hopping, English:. Iceland hopping is called the short-term, systematic visits of several nearby islands or atolls.

The term plays an essential role in modern tourism. Within a short time visiting tourists each for a few days ( or even a few hours) several nearby islands, mainly by ( sail) boat, ferry or in the course of a cruise.

Of historical importance is the island hopping in the military field. During the Second World War and besieged American forces conquered by way of the so-called " Iceland hopping " by and by almost all strategically important islands in the South Pacific.
