ISO 361

The radiation warning signs (including radiation sign, vane or trefoil (English for clover, trefoil ) ) is the warning sign for radioactivity or ionizing radiation. It is laid down in the ISO standard ISO 361.

Coloring

1946 an internal vote of a small research teams of the radiation laboratory at the University of California at Berkeley was conducted to find a suitable warning symbol for radioactivity. The symbol was originally shown in magenta on a blue background, and it consisted of only three touching on a tip, equilateral triangles. However, the blue background has proved to be useful and so the end of the 1950s, the magenta symbol on yellow background by the American National Standards Institute has been standardized after several attempts.

International icon, however, was standardized in black on a yellow background. Meanwhile, this international version is allowed ( in addition to the U.S. version ) and in the United States.

On 15 February 2007, the International Atomic Energy Agency announced the beam warning signs a new, as an ISO to provide 21482 standardized, nor abschreckenderes icon to the side that is to be attached directly to dangerous emitters of radiation categories 1, 2 and 3 to the risk of these substances and the right action towards clear to them laymen, since the abstract Trefoil (children talked about it partly for a propeller ) was in itself especially by children or in developing countries are often not properly understood.
