Isola della Scala

Isola della Scala is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 11,432 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the Province of Verona in the Veneto region. The community is located about 18 kilometers south of Verona.

History

The place was formerly known as Isola dei Conti, Latin: Insula Cenensis out. The present name dates back to the Scaliger family (or della Scala), which existed here from the 13th century. From the 15th century was also called Isola della Scala part of the Venetian Republic.

Traffic

The municipality is the Strada Statale 12 umquert of dell'Abetone e del Brenner from Verona to Modena. A train station is on the route from Verona to Bologna. From here the railway line Verona - Rovigo branches.

Community partnerships

Isola della Scala has partnerships with the French community Eaubonne in the department of Val -d'Oise and the Rhineland-Palatinate community Budenheim ( Germany ).
