History

On 25 November 2007, the merger of the seven churches in Vedeggio Valley was approved by the voters of five municipalities: Bironico, Camignolo, Medeglia, Rivera and Sigirino would have therefore have to merge to the municipality Monteceneri. Isone and Mezzovico- Vira rejected the merger. As a result, the State Council decided not to submit to the Grand Council a forced merger of the two hostile communities. Monteceneri is therefore formed only from the five consenting communities; Isone remains independent.
