Isotype (picture language)

Isotype ( English: International System of Typographic Picture Education; German: International System of Education through images ) was developed by the Austrian educator and philosopher Otto Neurath in collaboration with the graphic designer Gerd Arntz. Neurath was of the opinion that - pictures are more helpful than words - at least in the early stages of learning. He therefore developed in cooperation with Arntz and further a number of pictograms and rules for their design in order to bring complex issues in a form that was both obvious exactly.

For other uses, or association may be mediated by either the color or texture.
