History

Ispringen was mentioned in 1272, first documented as Urspringen. The former name suggests that the settlement probably occurred in the headwaters of Kämpfelbachs. The domination of the village was since 1365 the Dominican convent of Pforzheim. Once this was resolved with the Reformation, the village belonged to the Margrave of Baden. Ownership of Ispringen was essentially divided into seven fiefdoms with a total of around 400 acres of arable land, meadows and vineyards. Religions
