Israel Jacobs

Israel Jacobs ( born June 9, 1726, at Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, † December 10, 1796 ) was an American politician. Between 1791 and 1793, he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Israel Jacobs grew up during the British colonial period. He attended the common schools and worked in agriculture and trade. Between 1770 and 1774 he was a member of the colonial House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. After that, he appeared only in 1790 politically reappear. At that time he was a supporter of the federal government under President George Washington (Pro - Administration Group ).

In the congressional elections of 1790 Jacobs was selected in the third electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he took over the seat of George Clymer on 4 March 1791. Until March 3, 1795 he was able to complete a term in Congress. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives to Jacobs operated again in agriculture. He died on December 10, 1796.
