Israel of Axum

Israel was a Christian King of Aksumitisches empire in Africa, who ruled the end of the sixth century. The ruler is almost exclusively known from his coins.

The Kebra Nagast, an Ethiopian historical work reported that Caleb had two sons, one of whom was an Israel. It is debatable whether these two men are the same, after all, it could be assumed that in later centuries still had news of a successor by the name of Caleb Israel and this saw as his son, without that it really was him.
