Israel Shipyards is one of the largest shipbuilding and repair yards in the eastern Mediterranean. The company also operates the first and only privately owned port in Israel. The facilities of the company are at the Kishon port, part of the Port of Haifa. They include a floating dry dock with 20.000t capacity and a 900m long quay with 12m water depth.

History

The State of Israel founded the shipyard in 1959 to build civilian and military vessels, to maintain and convert. As a result of years of losses in 1995, the shipyard was privatized and sold to and held by the Israeli Investors Shlomo Shmeltzer, Shlomo Group.
