Issans

Issans is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Issans is located on 335 m, approximately 6 km west-northwest of the city of Montbéliard (air line). The village extends to the west of the basin of Montbéliard and north of Doubstals, in the Talniederung of Rupt, surrounded by the hills of the Grand Bois.

The area of ​​2.72 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the undulating countryside north of Doubstals. The central part of the area occupied by the Talniederung of Rupt who gets north of the village the inflow of a right of Bach and for drainage southeast to Allan and thus ensures the Doubs. Flanked the valley of predominantly forested heights: In the south of the Grand Bois ( up to 420 m ) to the west from the plateau of Saint- Julien ( 400 m) and in the northeast of another, Grand Bois amount stated on the 432- m highest elevation of Issans is achieved.

Neighboring communities of Issans are Raynans and Montbéliard in the north, Allondans in the east, ending in the south and Saint- Julien- lès -Montbéliard in the West.

History

Since the Middle Ages Issans belonged to the territory of the Counts of Montbéliard. With the annexation of that county, the village came in 1793 final in French hands. Today Issans is part of the municipal association Communauté de communes de la Vallée du Rupt.

Population

With 263 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Issans one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the range between 70 and 110 people, a striking population growth was recorded from 1968 to 1982. Since then, small fluctuations were only observed.

Economy and infrastructure

Issans was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the agglomeration Montbéliard.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Montbéliard to Aibre. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 9 km. Further road links exist with Raynans and Saint- Julien- lès -Montbéliard.
