Issenhausen

The French community Issenhausen with 111 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) located 35 km north-west of Strasbourg in the Bas -Rhin in the Alsace region. The houses are almost all at a single side street, which branches from the Department of Road 7. The neighboring village Kirrwiller in the north is similarly constructed. The villages are there surrounded mainly by farmland. The main industry is agriculture with the cultivation of grain.

History

The name " Issenhausen " has an Alemannic origin and was derived from " iron " because there ore was mined.

The settlement was subject to the monastery Marmoutier, and the family of Hanau- Lichtenberg was based here.

In a repeat of the military engineer Guillin from Neuf- Brisach to 1702 the village is mentioned under the name " Hissenhus ".
