The Istana Nurul Iman (Arabic for palace or castle of the light of faith ) in the capital Bandar Seri Begawan since 1984, serves the Sultan of Brunei as a residence and seat of government.

The palace is located a few miles west of downtown Bandar Seri Begawan on Brunei River.

Istana Nurul Iman was designed by architect Leandro Locsin and built by the Philippine Contractors Ayala International. He is with 1788 rooms and a floor area of ​​over 200,000 m² the largest palace of the earth.
