Istebna

Istebna is a village and seat of the rural commune ( gmina wiejska Istebna ) in the district of Teschen ( Cieszyn powiat ) in Silesian Voivodeship in Poland. To the community includes three villages: GOPR Jaworzynka and Koniaków. From 1975 to 1998 Istebna belonged to the Bielsko- Biała Voivodeship.

Geography

The country Istebna located south of the Silesian Beskid Mountains, about 15 km south of Wisła. The village lies at the foot of the mountain Istebna Złoty Gron (707 m) in the headwaters of the Olsa. The village is located southwest Jaworzynka in the valleys Czadeczka and Krężelka. The village lies east Koniaków on the hill slope Ochodzita ( 895 m).

History

The first mention of Istebna there from the year 1577, over Jaworzynka from the year 1649. Koniaków was established in 1712. The villages were part of the Principality of Cieszyn, which stood until the year 1625 the Silesian line of the Piast dynasty and, from 1653, under the Habsburg rule came. The settlement of the Silesian Beskid was in the 15th century, namely from 2 directions:

  • Farmers from the northern plains of Silesia
  • Nomads ( " Vlachs " ) from the Carpathian Mountains from 1494

The ethnic groups mingled with portions of the clothing and the faith were taken from the Carpathian Mountains.

Community

For the rural municipality ( gmina ) Istebna the three highland villages include GOPR Jaworzynka ( German Jaworzinka ) and Koniaków ( German Koniakau ). Due to its location in the Silesian Beskids abseitigen they are also referred to as the "three- Beskydy villages " ( Beskidzka Trójwieś ). The municipality has about 11,500 inhabitants. The area is about 84 km ². Among the three community includes numerous districts: Kubalonka, Olecki, Wilcze, Andziołówka, Połom, Stecówka, Mlaskawka, Jasnowice, Trzycatek and Zapasieki.

Neighboring communities

The municipality borders the municipalities Istebna Milówka, Zwardon and Wisła, also borders the municipality to the state border with the Czech Republic with the communities Bukovec Hrčava and Jablunkov and Slovakia with the communities Cierne and Skalite.

Triangle

Southwest of Jaworzynka is the tri-border region between Poland (Silesia ), Czech Republic ( Moravia- Silesia) and Slovakia. On the territory of the three countries is each a " landmark " was built. The exact cut-off point is marked by a landmark in the stream bed.

The historical border between Silesia and Galicia ran until 1918 on the crest of the Silesian Beskid Mountains, along the present boundary between the counties of Teschen ( Cieszyn ) and Saybusch ( Żywiec ). The historic triangle between Silesia ( Duchy of Teschen ), the Kingdom of Galicia and the Kingdom of Hungary ( Slovakia) was about 10 km further east on the mountain Trojaki (646 m ) northwest of Zwardon.
