It's Hard is the last studio album by British rock band The Who, released before their official temporary separation in 1983. After Facedances it was the second album with drummer Kenney Jones, who had taken his place after Keith Moon's death. It was published in 1982 on Polydor. In England, the album reached number 11 in the album charts. In the U.S., it reached number eight on the Billboard pop album charts.

The opinions on this album differ greatly. While it got a 5 star rating in Rolling Stone Magazine and was described as the most vital album since Who's Next, many fans believe it is unmotivated. Even singer Roger Daltrey said in 1994: " I hated it. I still hate it. However Hate it, hate it, hate it! " The envy of fans was not unfounded. The rumor circulated, the album was only recorded as the band of the U.S. record company under the contract still owed an album.

In retrospect, is probably the least important It's Hard album by the band. Eminence Front is the only piece on the album, which is played even today in concerts of The Who and counts among fans as one of the best songs of the band's history. In the U.S., the song was released in December 1982 with the play One At A Time on the B-side. In the UK, it was decided to couple out Athena as a single.

1997 It's Hard was digitally remastered and re-released on CD with four bonus tracks. The bonus songs are live recordings from the 16th and 17th December 1982 ( Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto, Canada). Keyboard player in this 1982 tour was Tim Gorman, who has worked on some studio recordings for the album.
