The Federazione Italiana Rugby ( FIR) is responsible for all male and female rugby teams in Italy, especially for the professional league Super 10

History

The first Italian rugby team was founded in 1909, U.S. Milanese. On September 28, 1928 was born in Italy, the FIR, and on February 2, 1929, the first national tournament, which was attended by six teams. On 19 October of the same year the CONI (Olympic National Committee of Italy ) dissolved the FIR on and took all their tasks. On March 19, 1930, the F.I.G.C. was ( Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio ) responsible for the management of the rugby organization, then again two years later autonomous from the FIPO ( Federazione Italiana Palla Ovale ) was performed. On 1 June 1933, the F.I.P.O. took over resume their former name F.I.R.

Today, the Italian rugby union team of the men 's sixth- strongest team applies in Europe behind France, England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. She participates every year since 2000 on the Six Nations tournament.
