Italian Socialist Party (2007)

The Partito Socialista Italiano ( German Socialist Party of Italy, abbreviation PSI) is an Italian Socialist Coalition Party, which was founded in October 2007 under the name Partito Socialista (PS).

Founded as Partito Socialista

The Enrico Boselli (SDI ) called into life and on October 6, 2007 proclaimed Costituente Socialista ( Socialist -up initiative ), several moderate left small parties and groups joined:

  • The Socialisti Democratici Italiani (SDI ) under Bosellis chair;
  • A group led by Gianni De Michelis and Mauro Del Bue, who had turned away from the Nuovo PSI, because they did not wish to endorse the coalition with Berlusconi;
  • I Socialisti to Vittorio ( " Bobo " ) Craxi and Saverio Zavettieri who had already left in a dispute with De Michelis, the Nuovo PSI 2006. Since Zavettieri shortly before founding but refused to sign, ultimately only Craxi and Franco Simone joined the PS;

  • Luigi Angeletti, chairman of the trade union Unione Italiana del Lavoro ( UIL ), together with other trade union representatives;
  • Apostates from other parties of the center- left alliance, such as the Senator Roberto Barbieri (formerly a member of the DS) and Cinzia Dato, (formerly a member of the Margherita ).

As part of the center- left coalition L' Unione set the PS to April 2008, a Deputy Minister ( Ugo Intini ) and four secretaries of state in the second Prodi cabinet. In the Italian Parliament, he was represented before the parliamentary election in 2008 with 15 deputies and 3 senators, while the three deputies of the Party in the European Parliament Group of the Party of European Socialists (PES ) have connected.

In the parliamentary elections on 13 and 14 April 2008, the PS occurred after failed negotiations with the Partito Democratico a list combination, as a single list and missed the catchment in both Houses of Parliament: The House of Representatives elections, he scored just under 1 % of the vote and the Senate elections 0.9%. Enrico Boselli then declared his resignation from the party chairmanship.

Renamed Partito Socialista Italiano
