Itami (Japanese伊丹 市, - shi) is a city located in Hyōgo Prefecture in Japan and a suburb of Osaka.
History
In the middle of the Sengoku period, the center Itamis to a wealthy city was. Her name was Itami -go (city of Itami ) and she was known as the only Japanese city inside a castle - usually of Japanese castles are located outside urban areas. Itami -go was a part of Arioka Castle, which was managed by Araki Murashige under the rule of Oda Nobunaga. After the uprising and the defeat Araki, the castle was destroyed.
The present city was founded on 10 November 1940. Large parts of the city were destroyed during the Great Hanshin earthquake in 1995, but were rebuilt quickly.
