Itapecerica da Serra is a Municipio in the southwest of the state of São Paulo in Brazil. In the municipality of 161 983 inhabitants.

History

The village was founded on September 3, 1562 by a Jesuit priest. In 1698, belonged to the chapel community Itapecerica more than 900 people. Itapecerica became a parish in 1841. By the decree of November 30, 1944 Itapecerica received the suffix " da Serra ".
