The Itezhitezhi dam of the Kafue in Kafue National Park in Zambia is a dam of earth and rockfill material. The reservoir is used with its storage capacity of 6,000 million cubic meters the continuous inflow of 450 river miles and 230 km as the crow river downstream Kafue Dam.

For fishing a constant water level is maintained for grazing and lying between the two reservoirs Kafue Floodplains are periodically flooded. Before the dam was built, the Kafueaue and surrounding area transformed in the rainy season in a 5000 km ² large inland. The today no longer takes place. The dam and the Lukangasümpfe keep the water of the rainy season to complete.

Electricity generation will be expanded to 120 MW from 2008.

In Kafue National Park of Itezhitezhi Reservoir is a popular tourist destination. The place Itezhi Tezhi is on the left next to the dam. Here begin the Kafueauen, which can reach the town Kafue.
