Geography
Geographical Location
The municipality is located in the Middle Itzgrund on the highway 4 between Coburg and Bamberg in a varied landscape, left and right of the river Itz.

History
The community Itzgrund was on 1 May 1978 at the context of the municipal reform of the previously independent municipalities Gleußen, cold Brunn ( with the incorporated 1 July 1972 Herreth until 1863 " Kleinhereth " ), Lahm, Schottenstein and Catfish Mountain, up to 30 June. Season 1972 County stone belonged.
The community Itzgrund became a member of the administrative community Untersiemau. Effective January 1, 1980, she left the management community.
Religions
