Iva Zanicchi
Iva Zanicchi (born 18 January 1940 in Ligonchio, Italy) is an Italian singer.
She is also a television presenter, author and actress. For the Italian party Popolo della Libertà, it is a member of the European Parliament.
1967, 1969 and 1974 she won the San Remo Festival in 1969 and represented Italy at the Euro Vision Song Contest.
Political career
2004 she was a candidate for the Forza Italia for a seat in the European Parliament. With 35,000 votes, they initially missed the entry into parliament. In May 2008, she moved as representative of the PdL (formerly "Forza Italia " ) on the place of Mario Mantovani after, who gave up his parliamentary seat to take a seat in the Italian Senate for the PdL. In the elections of June 2009, it was confirmed by the voters.
As an MEP she's 2009-2014 member of the Group of the European People's Party ( Christian Democrats) and Vice-Chair of the Development Committee in the period. She is a member of the Delegation to the ACP -EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly. As a deputy she is in the Committee on Culture and Education and the Delegation for relations with the United States.
